9/11 meant back to the Jumpseat.
Good afternoon from the “Views Crew”. On this somber day we pause to reflect on the events from 11 years ago.  We all remember where we were and what we were doing when the US was attacked.  All Americans grabbed their televisions and stayed glued as we watched the day’s events unfold.  Just like you I did the same.  My wife woke me up after a long night working for the local EMS agency, in 2001 I was out of the fire service working strictly ems, and we began to watch in horror.
All I could think about while watching the towers and pentagon is what if something like that happened here in WV.  I would be in the role of ems dealing with the emergency, not fighting the fires.  It was  a confirmation of sorts that I knew my heart was in the fire service.  As the day’s and weeks passed I stood by awaiting word on the fate of the 343 HEROS from 9/11 while realizing that my heart was in the fire service.
The 9/11 attacks will always have a place in my life, just like the millions of others.  Since 9/11 I have realized my dream of becoming a full time Fire-Medic and stand with pride beside all service branches who honor the sacrifices maid 11 years ago.  I wonder how many men and women of America joined the fire, ems, police or Military after 9/11 just like I did.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants,a for the servantb does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
